Funded hours
The Government provides up to 30 hours funded early years education to all eligible children from 9 months. This covers curriculum learning only.
We offer funded hours where applicable; as stated they pay for curriculum provision only but we also give you the option to choose the experience you want your child to receive.
1. Receiving funded hours as part of our full package
Our normal fees provide a complete, rounded experience that involves much more than basic curriculum. It also gives children nutritious, home-made meals and snacks throughout the day which are used to develop healthy eating and living habits. By choosing New Road Nursery, you have chosen this complete provision for your child, giving them a fuller, more varied and more extensive experience – caring for children in this way is fundamental to our philosophy as we believe that development of a child’s abilities involves much more than basic curriculum learning. That is why we offer extra space, activities, higher-qualified, and better paid staff, home-cooked food (with encouragement to eat a healthy diet) and extra activities that make a day at New Road Nursery special.
You can still give your child all of this while also taking advantage of funded hours by receiving those hours free of charge but pay for the extra elements above that are not covered by Government. A full list of charges is below. These charges will include everything that your child receives while at New Road Nursery and ensure that they get the absolute best from their time with us.
Any additional time taken above the funded allocation are simply charged as normal fee-paying hours.

2. Placing your child in a fully-funded place (ie with no extra charges)
The fully funded educational entitlement (ie funded hours) provided by the government covers only the cost of basic provision of childcare and basic curriculum activity. It does not cover the many extra experiences provided by our nursery which includes such things as food throughout the day, essential consumables and enhanced provision as described above.
We give you the option of accessing these places and therefore receiving completely free childcare by offering specific sessions that avoid non-curricular experiences or food and therefore do not incur any extra costs. In order to minimise any negative impact, these sessions are limited in number and available only at specific times of the day (we avoid fully-funded children observing their friends receiving extra provision). Sometimes, the extra experiences cannot be avoided even with these sessions and our priority is always to do the best for our children; in those cases, these are chargeable although payment is voluntary.
Currently, fully-funded hours are offered 5 days a week and are planned so that these children do not feel they are missing out on the things other children that attend receive as a matter of course. They are strictly subject to availability and are normally in short supply, but we will always do our best to accommodate you.
For those with a fully funded place there are a number of options available below.
• You provide all essential consumables and do not participate in any enhanced provision. you must provide all essential consumable items in your child’s bag on every session, clearly labelled and packaged, any missing items that are then provided by the nursery will incur an additional charge of £1 per item per event.
• You pay the nursery for essential consumables to avoid the hassle of packing them yourself at £5 per day.
• You pay for essential consumables and pay extra for any events or activities you would like your child to attend in an ad hoc fashion. These will be subject to acceptance by the nursery and availability.
• You pay the daily rate for essential consumables and enhanced provision to receive everything offered during your child’s attendance plus attending parties etc
